The LKM Performance Troupes package is designed for students aged 5 yrs and over who are interested in competing in Eisteddfods and performances throughout the year. These students are trained in Jazz, Tap and Ballet.
Routines are performed at various community events and shows, and also at a competitive level in Eisteddfods. In addition to competing in a troupe (or group), students have the option of learning solo routines for Eisteddfods.
Before you and your child make a commitment to LKM and become a troupe member or soloist, it is important that you understand everything that will be expected of you and the type of commitment you are making.
Signing up to be part of any LKM troupe entails:
Being present for all practice sessions. If you are unable to make rehearsal, you must notify your troupe teacher at least 24 hours in advance. (This includes any extra rehearsals that may be scheduled before a performance date.)
Being prepared to travel approximately 1 hour to perform. Our general performance area extends from Katoomba, Windsor, Penrith, Blacktown etc.
Being prepared to pay extra tuition & eisteddfod fees. All troupe members are required to participate in 1 other standard class per week in addition to their troupe class (you will receive a minimum 10% "multiple class" discount)
Being punctual with all fee and costume payments - any issues should be addressed with our accounts department.
Understanding that costume fees will range from $50 to $100 per costume. It is as the discretion of LKM as to whether a costume will be bought or hired.
Understanding that troupe performers are a team and that as a team they need to be prepared and on time to all eisteddfods and performances. LKM participates in minimum of 4 eisteddfods each year, which you and your child will be notified about in advance, and expected to attend.
It is essential that, as a parent, you understand the commitment both you and your child are making to the troupe when signing up. LKM is about having fun and all becoming stars, however it is impossible for teachers to choreograph and organise troupe dances when children are absent. This is particularly important for our younger dancers as remembering sequences, cues in the music and organising stage space needs extra attention and concentration.
LKM students must have attended our studio for 12 months prior to joining troupe and will generally be by invitation only. However if your child is interested in joining, please speak with your class teacher. Please note that it is at the discretion of the Studio Director who will be offered a place in LKM troupes.
Our troupes have been very successful in past eisteddfods, with all performers showing a commitment and passion for dance.
Being part of the LKM Performance Troupes is an exciting and rewarding experience for both the performer and their families!
